About this set of tables:

This matching set of tables was made from a single, continuous glue-up of two unusual spalted pine boards. By the time I got a hold of these particular boards, they’d been left out in the elements and forgotten about for a long while. Once I started milling them, I was pleasantly surprised to find such beautiful coloring, from blonde to silvery grey, and lots of natural markings - some folks might call them flaws, I think of them as character. Hard to capture in these photos really. I’ve filled some of the slim cracks with black epoxy for stability, paired them with three-rod hairpin legs in clear coated steel, and now they’re good to go.

These tables won’t solve any major life problems (except maybe where to put your coffee), but they could certainly brighten up your living room or office and give you something interesting to talk about besides whatever’s wrong.

• One of a kind set made by Gus Mitchener Woodworking in Salt Lake City, Utah.

• Tabletops are constructed from solid wood with minimal epoxy for stabilization, all corners have been sanded by hand and are smooth to the touch.

• Tabletops are finished with hand-applied Osmo Polyx, a German Hardwax-Oil made with natural vegetable oils and waxes that is safe for pets, plants, and people. This is our favorite finish. It does a great job of protecting the wood while showing off its natural beauty. Highly durable and long lasting, it resists water, dirt, and common household spills. It’s also easy to spot repair and renew as needed.

• Each table comes with a set of four hairpin legs (14” & 16”) in clear-coated steel with matching rubber feet. Made by Hairpin Leg Co., the leg shape is a slimline flute and sits at a slightly reclined angle, based on the original hairpins designed by Henry Glass in the 1940s. They’re sturdy, well-finished, come in a variety of colors and sizes, and the best we have found.

• Simple assembly required when shipped. Hardware and instructions included, holes for installing legs have been predrilled.

• Ready to ship to the Continental US or pick up locally in Salt Lake City, Utah (by appointment).

Furniture will generally ship within 2-3 business days and arrive within 4-7 days of shipping. This table will be sent in 3 boxes in total and include both tabletops with predrilled holes for attaching legs, two sets of hairpin legs with matching rubber feet/floor protectors, hardware (4 screws per leg), and assembly and care instructions.
